Your Catalan adventure begins in one of Europe’s most fascinating cities.
After arriving independently at our centrally located hotel, take some time to settle in, stretch your legs, or simply enjoy the excitement that always comes with the first day of a new journey.
At 5:00 p.m. we’ll meet in the hotel lobby for the first time. Names quickly become faces, fellow travelers become companions, and before long we’ll be raising our very first glass together.
What better way to begin than with a toast of Catalonia’s famous Cava?
It’s more than a sparkling wine…, it’s part of the local culture, and the perfect excuse to celebrate everything that’s about to unfold.
We’ll then take a gentle orientation stroll through our neighborhood, allowing you to get your bearings while discovering the area that will become home throughout our stay in Barcelona.
Our welcome dinner is included this evening at one of my favorite local restaurants.
Good food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and by the end of the evening I’m willing to bet the conversations will already feel as though you’ve known each other for much longer than a few hours.
If you’re still full of energy afterward, enjoy a leisurely walk back through Barcelona’s beautifully illuminated streets. If not, a short taxi ride is always an option.

After breakfast, we’ll board our private vehicle and begin discovering the city from a perspective that many visitors never experience. Traveling in a small group allows us the flexibility to stop where larger coaches simply can’t, making room for unexpected views, hidden corners, and those spontaneous moments that often become the best memories.
Today’s story belongs to one extraordinary man. Antoni Gaudí.
Long before architects spoke about sustainability, organic design, or nature-inspired buildings, Gaudí was already imagining a completely different way of shaping the world around him.
Our first major stop is the extraordinary Parc Güell.
Originally conceived as an exclusive residential development for Barcelona’s wealthy elite, the project never became the luxury neighborhood its patron had envisioned. Instead, it evolved into something infinitely more valuable: one of the most imaginative public spaces ever created.
As we wander through colorful mosaics, twisting pathways, and whimsical architectural details, you’ll begin to understand why Gaudí remains one of the most influential architects in history.
Throughout the day, I’ll also share the Barcelona that exists beyond the postcards, the stories, personalities, and historical events that transformed this Mediterranean port into one of Europe’s great cultural capitals.
By the time we return to the hotel, you’ll already start seeing the city differently.
And we’re only getting started.

Today we travel back nearly two thousand years.
Leaving Barcelona after breakfast, we’ll follow the Mediterranean coastline south toward Tarragona, a comfortable drive of about an hour and a half.
Long before Barcelona became Catalonia’s best-known city, Tarragona was one of the Roman Empire’s great provincial capitals.
Today, it remains one of Spain’s most remarkable archaeological treasures and proudly holds UNESCO World Heritage status.
What makes Tarragona truly special isn’t simply the ruins.
It’s how effortlessly ancient Rome and medieval Catalonia coexist within the same streets.
Roman walls stand beside Gothic churches. Amphitheaters overlook the Mediterranean. Quiet alleyways suddenly reveal magnificent plazas, hidden courtyards, and unexpected viewpoints around almost every corner.
Accompanied by our private local guide, we’ll uncover not only the city’s best-known monuments but also many of the stories that most visitors never hear.
This is a photographer’s paradise, so don’t forget to charge your camera…, you’ll be using it often.
Our guided exploration will last approximately 3/4 hours before you enjoy free time for lunch and the opportunity to continue exploring at your own pace.
Perhaps you’ll find a peaceful café overlooking the sea.
Perhaps you’ll lose yourself among the ancient streets.
Sometimes the greatest pleasure is having nowhere particular to be.
Later in the afternoon we’ll meet once again before returning comfortably to Barcelona.
After a full day of history, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable discoveries, the evening is yours to relax and enjoy dinner wherever inspiration leads you.

Barcelona has another surprise waiting for us.

There are architects who design buildings.
And then there’s Antoni Gaudí.
Today we’ll leave our private vehicle behind and experience Barcelona as locals do, combining short walks with public transportation as we explore two of the architect’s greatest masterpieces.
Our first stop is Casa Milà, better known as La Pedrera. At first glance it almost seems impossible that a building like this was completed more than a century ago. There isn’t a straight line to be found. Stone appears to flow like water, balconies resemble seaweed drifting in the current, and chimneys become sculptures. It feels less like architecture and more like nature itself.
With the help of our private guide, you’ll discover that every curve, every window and every detail had a purpose. Gaudí believed that nature had already solved every design problem imaginable. All he had to do was pay attention.
From here we’ll continue to what many consider his ultimate masterpiece.
The Sagrada Família.
No matter how many photographs you’ve seen over the years, nothing prepares you for your first glimpse of its soaring towers reaching into the Barcelona sky.
Construction began in 1882 and, remarkably, continues to this day. More than a century later, it remains one of the world’s most extraordinary architectural achievements; A project so ambitious that generations have devoted their lives to completing the dream of a man who never expected to see it finished himself.
Inside, prepare yourself.
Most visitors expect a church.
What they discover is a forest of stone, light and color unlike anything they’ve ever experienced.
Our guided visits and walking tour will last approximately four hours, leaving the remainder of the afternoon free for you to explore at your own pace.
Perhaps you’ll choose a leisurely lunch in one of Barcelona’s charming squares. Maybe you’ll revisit a favorite neighborhood or simply sit with a coffee and watch the city go by.
After all, Barcelona is a city that rewards those who slow down.
This day we do have a well deserved group dinner in a restaurant nearby.

Some artists paint what they see. Salvador Dalí painted what everyone else only dared to imagine.
Today we leave Barcelona behind and travel north through the Catalan countryside to the town of Figueres, birthplace of one of the twentieth century’s most fascinating and controversial artists.
Dalí wasn’t simply a painter.
He was a performer, an inventor, a provocateur and, above all, a master at making people question reality itself.
Our destination is the extraordinary Dalí Theatre-Museum, designed by the artist himself. Built upon the ruins of the town’s former theatre, this remarkable building became Dalí’s final masterpiece, a place where architecture, sculpture, painting and illusion merge into one unforgettable experience.
Together with our private guide, we’ll explore the mind behind the famous melting clocks and discover the stories, obsessions and surprising sense of humor hidden throughout the museum.
Whether you’re already familiar with his work or seeing it for the first time, one thing is almost certain…
You’ll leave with more questions than answers. And that’s exactly how Dalí would have wanted it.
After some free time in Figueres, we’ll continue to the peaceful village of Púbol, home to another remarkable chapter in Dalí’s life.
Here stands the small medieval castle he lovingly restored for Gala, his wife, muse and lifelong inspiration.
Their relationship was unconventional in every possible way, and nowhere is that story told more beautifully than within these ancient walls.
Before our visit, we’ll enjoy an included lunch at one of my favorite family-run restaurants, where authentic Catalan cooking reminds us that great memories are often created around a shared table.
By late afternoon we’ll begin our comfortable drive back to Barcelona, arriving after a full day of art, history and stories that blur the line between reality and imagination.
I have a feeling you’ll be talking about Dalí long after you’ve returned home.

Lose yourself among narrow streets with absolutely no destination in mind.
Personally, that’s one of my favorite ways to discover any city.
Of course, if adventure is calling, the possibilities are almost endless.
Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of visiting the magnificent mountain monastery of Montserrat, perched dramatically among jagged peaks.
Maybe you’re a football fan eager to experience the atmosphere surrounding FC Barcelona.
Or perhaps you’d like to take advantage of Spain’s remarkable high-speed rail network. Madrid, Zaragoza, Girona and several other destinations are all within easy reach for an ambitious day trip.
Whatever you decide, you won’t be on your own.

Some cities inspire artists. Barcelona helped create one of the greatest.
Although Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga, it was here, during his teenage years, that his artistic voice truly began to emerge. The city was buzzing with creativity, cafés were alive with debate, and young painters were challenging the rules of traditional art. Barcelona became Picasso’s classroom long before Paris made him famous.
This morning we’ll make our way through the narrow medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter toward one of the world’s finest collections of his work.
Accompanied by our private guide, we’ll trace the remarkable evolution of a young artist whose determination, curiosity and extraordinary talent would eventually change the course of modern art.
The museum itself tells only part of the story.
Step outside and the city continues the conversation.
We’ll wander through winding alleyways that have changed little over the centuries, hidden squares where locals still gather, and streets where history quietly unfolds around every corner. Barcelona rewards those who look beyond the obvious, and today you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do just that.

Today we’ll discover a side of the region that surprises almost everyone.
Leaving Barcelona behind once again, we head north through changing landscapes until we arrive in Ripoll, one of the spiritual birthplaces of Catalonia.
Its magnificent monastery has stood here for centuries, witnessing the rise of medieval Catalonia and preserving some of the finest Romanesque architecture in Europe.
With our private guide, we’ll explore its remarkable church and cloister while uncovering the stories of the nobles, monks and rulers whose lives shaped this region’s identity.
After a little time to wander through the village at your own pace, we continue toward an entirely different landscape.
Welcome to La Garrotxa Natural Park.
Rolling forests, peaceful valleys and picturesque villages conceal something few visitors expect to find…
An ancient volcanic landscape.
Around fifty extinct volcanoes lie scattered throughout this protected area, creating one of Spain’s most unique natural environments.
We’ll stop in the charming town of Olot, where we will have our time for lunch.
Weather permitting, we’ll finish today’s adventure with a hike walk into the crater of one of these extinct volcanoes.
Waiting at its center is one of Catalonia’s most enchanting surprises: a tiny Romanesque hermitage resting peacefully where fire and lava once dominated the landscape.
If we’re fortunate, its doors may even be open.
If not… the walk itself is worth every step.
Surrounded by silence, ancient trees and volcanic earth beneath your feet, it’s hard to imagine a more peaceful place to end the day.
We’ll return to Barcelona in the evening, bringing with us yet another version of Catalonia that many travelers never get the chance to experience.

Every great journey deserves a memorable finale.
Today begins atop one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks.
A public metro transfer takes us to Montjuïc, the hill that has watched over the city for centuries. From the top, the panoramic views stretch across rooftops, the Mediterranean and the bustling port below, a perfect opportunity to appreciate just how beautifully Barcelona blends sea, mountains and history.
As we make our way across the Olympic complex built for the 1992 Games, you’ll see how this once-overlooked hill became one of the city’s defining symbols.
Our destination is the magnificent National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC).
If yesterday introduced us to Romanesque architecture, today completes the story.
Housing the finest collection of Romanesque art anywhere in the world, the museum allows us to connect the frescoes, sculptures and craftsmanship we’ve encountered throughout the journey into one fascinating narrative.
With our private guide leading the way, you’ll discover how art can reveal the beliefs, ambitions and daily lives of people who lived nearly a thousand years ago.
The remainder of the afternoon is yours. Stay a little longer at the museum. Return to the hotel.
Or perhaps enjoy one final stroll through your favorite corner of Barcelona in search of those last special souvenirs.
This evening we’ll gather one final time for our farewell dinner.
We’ll share stories, laugh about unexpected moments, revisit favorite memories and, quite possibly, begin talking about where we should travel together next.
And naturally…
No farewell in Catalonia would be complete without raising a glass of local Cava.
I can’t promise there won’t be a few emotional goodbyes.
