Why I Do What I Do
My first group tour was back in… well, let’s just say I was nine years old.
It was a school trip to a beach resort only ten miles from my hometown of Málaga, in southern Spain. The city of Picasso, Antonio Banderas… and me. It took days of pleading before my parents finally agreed to sign the permission slip and let me go with my classmates.
When the day finally arrived, I could hardly believe it. I was so excited that I barely slept the night before. To me, this wasn’t just a school trip; It was my very first adventure away from home!
As our bus slowly crawled through heavy traffic, I turned to one of my friends and asked, “Have we gone a mile yet?” He smiled and replied, “We’re almost there.”
That simple moment changed my entire life.
At nine years old, I discovered something I never forgot: there was a whole world waiting to be explored.
At eighteen, I left home. A year later I went to London for what was supposed to be a holiday. I didn’t come back for almost five years. Eventually I settled in Madrid and, little by little, found the career I was meant for…, becoming a tour guide.
The rest is a long story… one I’d be happy to tell you when we meet.
After many years of traveling, guiding, and meeting people from every corner of the world, I’ve learned something important: the more I share, the more I learn.
That’s the philosophy behind every tour I create and make.
I treat my travelers the way I hope to be treated whenever I visit a new destination. Of course, we’ll see the famous places, they’re famous for a reason, right? But we’ll also discover the quiet corners, the hidden stories, the local traditions, and those little moments that most visitors simply walk past without ever noticing.
Spain is my home. I know its history, its traditions, its flavors, and its people. But what I enjoy most is sharing the Spain I grew up loving, not just the one you’ll find in guidebooks.
Over the years, working with prestigious travel companies and welcoming guests from many different cultures has taught me that travel isn’t simply about visiting new places. It’s about seeing the world a little differently when you return home.
If, at the end of our journey together, you leave Spain with unforgettable memories, a few new friends, and a genuine connection to this country, then I’ll know I’ve done my job.
